put the car on axle stands and then put a jack underneath the hub and pump it up a little, this will allow you to turn the nut POLO MK4 6n Track Rod End Nut 51732

Hey mark that would only work for the bottom ball joint as there is no pressure actually on the track rod end, what you need is a long bar and trap it under the subframe and ontop of the track rod end then get someone to apply downward pressure to it then you can do the nut up, hopefully.

I hope this helps.

If you use the air gun and you have no downward pressure then you will still spin it inside and not tighten up.

BIG F-OFF BAR AND PRESSURE WITH AIRGUN DOES IT EVERYTIME
