top hose is just a bodge atm, will be a simular idea but will tuck more to the rad and side of the head. bottom hose still needs addressing, rad will be smack in the middle of the bay and ile make hoses to fit it. but for now im a happy chappy and gives a good idea what its going to be like.
cooments please peeps?......

They look perfect !

Are you going to put a dam or plate ontop of the rad to stop heat soak and drive the cold air directly to the trumpets ?

Where did you get your rad made ?
Could they make an a/c one too ?

I want to do exactly this when I put my vr on throttle bodies into the mk2.

yeh man, not a bad fit at all. really chuffed. got the lugs on the bottom dam made and there at full height so can machine upto 7mm off to get it a little lower to then alow for the rubber gromments too.

cheers Guy, i was thinking about making a scoop that fixes on the rad and hooks up under the carbs, but wont tell until i have the rad mounted in its final position. it is a nice snug fit so dont want to make it a bit too crammed. will defo be thinking of it as an option though, will it be overly benificial?

we made the radiator at work, my boss got me the core from wayne and alex at pro alloy, very good chaps and very helpful!

what do you mean an a/c one?

Sounds like guy wants an air conditioning rad...normally much thinner than a normal rad.

The air scoop for the carbs will make a massive difference...just remember that your car with carbs on loves cold air....that is where it makes most of it's power. That is the reason people go for cross flow heads, as on a normal 8v the carbs absorbs some of the heat from the exhaust manifold and this saps power.

Still doing planning for mine. Not got the cash to carry on with it at the moment. Got loads of body prep and other stuff to do before i need to buy anything for it though so it's all good.

The manifold looks good in the bay...i think mine will need to be painted black though! Let me know when you want to have a look at the block and head for where it needs to be welded up...are you getting that done before you get the head ported and polished?

fair enough dude, at least it should come together as a hole in the end then.

yeh will pop up soon mate and have a looky, ive found a 1.9 8v for cheaps so going to use that instead of rebuilding one i still struggling to find atm. but yeh will get the head welded and redrilled before port and polishing begins project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 28 51732
