Cheers all, i know your watching and reading, its not the most exciting of updates i know, but its stuff thats gotta be done.

Well its that time of week again!!

Friday night was late one, but i managed to get the engine bay to the stage where it was ready for welding, So it was rolled out and given to neighbour Rich to weld up the holes

Trust me, im building this one but theres some things i know i just cant do...and weldings one of them! now i have a few ideas to make this individual, but i dont think a welding gun stuck to the firewall is going to cut it hahaha





The mans got some skills,

So now the wonderful task of grinding begins

Its been a bit hit n miss today as Si's caddy was in for painting so was grinding around him....and a sore head!! but managed to get this done so far





tomorrow im on it like a car bonnet so more updates then

Wasnt happy so i added some colour then took it out for a spin!!

Well ive been away for a while so progress has been slow....but then i want to do it properly so why rush it? Anyway i was browsing the mk1 owners forum and found a build thread of my car!!

seems the guy started it, but then lost interest. anyway i found these pictures of the original car, the work that was done on it before i got it, and the usual rot i guess.













good to see what went on beforehand, and gives me some idea of a before and after. on it allday tomorrow, so will update accordingly

Just a small update really to keep it alive.

Moved the golf over to my garage over xmas (cheers Si and Mike ) as i wasnt getting upto it enough to get it finished anytime soon.

Anyway, drivers side wing, chassis leg, turret all grinded, fillered, sanded and primed now moving onto the firewall.

Got some shiny shiny over xmas too and new rims sorted, now if i could find my lead i would update pics but god knows where its gone lol....

I'm away on tour (again) in may so probably be a good time to get it into paint methinks..so have a few months to get the bay done to a standard i'm happy with, decide on what colour to go, what engine to run, how much tuck n poke, what interior,

Still no lead found, but just realised the laptop had bluetooth so piccy time modern technology eh?? lol

anyway, like i said drivers side inner wing and chassis leg done,



although the more i look at it, the less i'm happy with it but its got to the point of filling pinholes so maybe i'm being fussy!!!

i had started on the passenger side pre xmas at the unit, but once i bought it home i gave that side a coat of etch to stop any nasty stuff appearing, so yes it looks yellow but thats the primer.



above pic also has evidence of a pile of lips growing?? so might as well put up wheel choice for all to see, those that know what i plan to roll are the only ones who comment anyway, so no real surprise lol



and under the front wing:



will probably get a better idea once suspension is sorted but anyway they are:

Ronal racing 3 piece magnesium splits, 15" 114pcd so using adapters. et unsure at the moment but planning on 8" fronts 8 1/2" rears, although i have a big pile of lips, barrels etc to build what i fancy.

got boxes of other new bits too in the garage but its too cold to go get them to photo lol
