| VW’s official size is 168mm, but to all intents and purposes they qualify as 17 cm, or 6 ½. as far as i know f+r are the same size but aint too difficult to remove the door cards |

| Golf Mk4 3 Door: 6.5" Components in the front - Mid woofer in the door, and tweeter in the wing mirror housing. 6.5" Coaxial in the rear as there is nowhere for the tweeter to go. Golf Mk4 5 door: 6.5" components both front and rear. Same as 3 door with tweeter in mirror housing up front, but in the rear has the tweeter housing beside the door pull.
I took out my standard front speakers, and replaced them with Vibe Black Air 6 components. Have to say, makes the world of difference, and really pushes the bass out. And if you've got a 3 door like mine, the mid-woofer has a centre slot allowing you to connect the tweeter into it, giving you a coaxial setup. Perfect for the rears of a 3 door!
In my opinion, i'm not going to bother with putting a sub in the car. Really dont need it with these! |

I think I paid around £65 for a pair from www.caraudiosecurity.com Got some fairly bassy cheapo speakers from eBay for the rears so will be nabbing myself another pair of Vibes for the rear too.
Let me know if you still want that phono lead jobby for your headunit Mark.
EDIT: Just found them. I paid £10 more than they are now so a bargain at this price when you see the crap Halfords sell for £55 (I'M LOOKING AT YOU LUPTON!) http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/9148.html |
