Are you serious? You need to change insurance groups then. It was an extra £27 more than my MK4 GTI. If it was anymore than an extra £100 I wouldn't have bothered in all honesty.

BBS Style 5's Those look wicked but at 7" wide all round, thats a major downfall. I'd prefer a staggered 7.5" and 8.5" combo or at least 7.5" all round. Cheers for spotting them though!

| Ok, well a little update from the weekend... Went to Beck Row scrapyard with Jay on Saturday afternoon, and was shocked at what we saw. The week earlier the place was full of E36's and MK3 Golfs. Now there arent any Golf's at all, and about 3 E36's. Thankfully I found one that had the headlights intact, so we got to work and wrenched them off. Also got all the tools from the BMW toolbox as my car didnt come with any. Anyhow, got back to mine and set about ripping the headlights apart to put the CCFL rings in. Not a hard job, but definately time consuming to say the least. Here's a couple of pics of the job... One light down, one more to go... Both lights done, now just waiting for the silicon to dry... Both installed and back on the car... And a nice little pic to keep up with the whoring... So now the next thing is to wait for my new Alpine HU to arrive (should arrive today when it was supposed to turn up on saturday...grr...) so I can install that, and get the lamin-x ordered and wrap the lights up. Once I get the nose-cone, grilles, and boot from Jay it should be looking sweet. Then it'll be time for a nice healthy drop! | |

Get a build thread going on so we can see what you get up to with it. Regarding the side indicators, eBay is your best friend. Picked mine up off the bay, and they're the dark smoked ones. Not completely black, more of a very dark grey so I think i'll be lamin-x-ing them too to get them to look completely black to match the paintwork. It also depends on what year your car is. If it is before 1997 your indicators will have a large black plastic surround behind them. 1997 or after (like mine) will have a longer thinner indicator with no plastic surround. You cant swap the two types around as they have different size/type of holes in the wings to fit pre-facelift and post-facelift indicators depending on the age. And the clear fronts is a good idea. I wasn't too keen on the clear fronts as they are a lot whiter in comparison to the headlights (when turned off). So I went for the smoked front indicators as they seem to match a bit better. But yeah, anything is better than the amber covers....

| Ok, a little update from the weekend... Was getting fed up of my cheap head unit that i had in the coupe (it was only in there for CD functionality) so thought it was about time to order a new one. Searched the net for a while to find one that matched the display and dials. Orange isn't an easy colour to match... Eventually went for an Alpine as it had the exact colour match I wanted, and as we all know it has great audio prowess and outstanding build quality. Also I loved my old one with iPod/USB functionality so it had to be alpine again. The new delivery... The offending unit... Out it comes... The new Alpine 9880r installed... Much better! Didn't take long at all to install and sounds much better. The speakers are all stock and sound twice as they did with the original cassette player in. Come have a look at the meet on Friday and you'll see what I mean! Anyways, I also got another package this morning. Quite a costly little one as it costed over £50, and thats even after the 10% fendubbers discount! (hint hint) Only got a little bit of the next mod done, so i'll put the pictures up when its completed. Also looking forward to getting the boot, nose-cone and grilles off Jay. Looks like he's done a mint job on them! So yeah, its all coming together nicely... | |
