| Forgot to take some before shots of the car as standard, but meh...
The missus started strippin bits out the old car yesterday, so it seemed rude not to start puttin bits in/strippin the new one!
i may have gone a bit mad with trying to keep it light...
pics to follow in a bit when i can find my camera...

| most of you have probs read all the problems i had fitting the suspension etc but its finally starting to come together (slowly). its now sitting pretty low on coilovers (could probs go lower but a)one of them is siezed, and b)i'd get annoyed/worried bout grounding out all the time), and ive got poly bushes on the front wishbones. replaced the top mounts with new oem ones all round while they were off too. want to try and find some arb poly bushes, and see if theres a way to stop the arb knocking on the chassis rail. handles like a go-kart now tho, the ride is quite similar too... sporting a slightly pikey side exit exhaust (due to the back box "self modding" its self off the car), and the air filter off the old car (k&n copy, needs replacing really...), it now sounds like a cross between a v8 stock car and an angry swarm of wasps! Lost a little bit of torque low down, but gained more torque and power further up, well it feels like i have interior wise i have fitted a stereo for when im on long drives on my own... but its in the glove box... where i cant reach it when im driving... ive only got little arms! :( also since players ive wired/plumbed in the oil pressure gauge (anyone know what sort of reading i should be getting?), and the vac gauge (does anyone actually know what use a vac gauge is? looks cool tho...). have got a harness on the passenger seat too, kept the standard seatbelt as well so i dont always have to wait 10 mins for peeps to adjust it! lol next is to get round to fitting the fire extinguisher ive had for longer than the car, tidy it up a bit (has got a few battle scars), make up a new induction pipe/filter/cold air feed, and maybe decide on some rims... tho for now i may just paint the standard vw alloys black as theres still tread on the tires... mite even wash it tomoz too... lol Future wise im going for a race sort of theme, something along the lines of the berg cup cars (wide arch, wide track, wide wheel etc). not going for huge power (maybe), just a fun reliable amount. styling wise mainly function over form... so it'll never be the prettiest of cars! lol maybe going for a bit of a race themed paint job as well... dunno quite how that ones gonna turn out, so if anyone wants to photoshop it for me?! lol it could turn out to be awesome... it could turn out to be pants! lol | |

| tried threadlocking the mount if it keeps coming undone mate? Deffo leave the towing eye in with a "TOW" and arrow sticker. Shes looking racey dude, get the hole saw out and put her on a serious diet . 4 Branch, lumpy scatter cams, headwork would make her a lively little beast. Bet its awesome through the twisty bits though mate, especially them twisties between benwick and doddington. | |

| have needed a new airfilter for a while now as i was running the crappy one off the old polo, so i got this universal (meaning it wont fit anything straight out the box, lots of buggering about!) kit off ebay... had to get a silicone elbow as the polo throttle boddy points straight up ran the cold air pipe down where my carbon canister used to be... and found a bumper grill bit with the hole for the fog light knocking about for it to point at to maybe give it a bit of a ram air effect (dunno if it actually will) should now be bringing nice cold air in! feels better to drive, dunno if its cos its cleaner than the old one, cos its getting cold air, or if ive spent money on it so it HAS to make a difference! want to do some work on the bumper at some point, make the two side grilles into one and mesh the bumper grilles the same as the top grille. will also get a proper vent/funnel thing for the end of the cold air pipe, something bonded to the inside of the bumper, where it'll do its job without being seen. | |

it was one of these jobbies... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-CARBON-FIBRE-INDUCTION-KIT-AIR-FILTER-HOSE_W0QQitemZ330277530734QQihZ014QQcategoryZ36680QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262the quality is pretty good considering the price difference from the BMC! its real carbon, and all fits together nicely. the bracketry is a lil bit flimsy, but it does the job. comes with 3 different reducers and some good mikalor type clamps. the filter element is a proper cotton one so its washable, think my old one was red paper! lol the cold air pipe is really long (comes all pushed together like the bendy bit of a straw and i nearly didnt fit it because of the funny noises it makes when you strretch it. kept me entertained for hours... ) | |

| I recently sold one of those carbon intakes on eBay. I bought it trying to replicate a Gruppe M thing for the Bimmer but then read it can only flow enough air for 190bhp, so off it went. Basically it's BMC or sweet FA for you, Tiz Edit: Bob, have you declared your stripedness on your insurance? PM if you want, I'm on the verge of gutting my car. Thanks. | |

| my record (on a private full scale copy of the road ) from the national speed limit near the nursery in doddington to the 30 sign in benwick is 2mins11secs in the old 1L. thats a rolling start through the national speed signs at 60, and through the 30 limit at 30. could go faster but i dont wanna wipe anyone out in the village! lol never timed it in the white one but i recon its under 2min as i do bout 20mph more down most of it. | |

| done a few bits recently. finaly decided to get rid of the radio, couldnt hear it anyway! it was mounted in the glove box, and as thats been cut about as well i ditched that to. fitted a set of 8mm leads a month or so back as the old ones were perished and werent really doing thier job. lots of kangarooing and the car dying on me when i went through puddles was getting really annoying! they were actually about £4 cheeper than standard ones... cant figure out how, but i wish all uprated parts were like that! lol got a new 4-2-1 raceland manifold off ebay the other week. and got a bit of 2" pipe to join it to the rest of the exhaust minus cat. think we couldve got it done nice and quickly if we had a ramp! wasnt too much of a pain tho. few pics of the fitting... old manifold was easier than we thought it would be to get off. bolts weren't exactly tight... wouldve been sooo much easier with a ramp! had to get under and cut it in the end new shiney manifold! big thanx to chris and kev for givin me a hand (que how many men does it take to change a manifold jokes). havent got any pics of it fitted as my girlfriend has taken her camera home with the pics on... its gone a nice bluey purpley colour now tho! its made a big difference to the top end performance, dont know how long my gearbox is gonna put up with me driving round at 11,000,000rpm tho... its a tad loud now too. im actually considering getting a backbox for it... ill see what my hearings like in a week! lol | |
