just thought id put a few pics up and start a link so as and when i do bits i can put some more up to show the progress..

its just a shame that this mk1 aint on my drive way to be worked on no more but ill still be givin a hand to get it done and to see it completed init tobie

yes ok we will mock it up outta summin which will hold teh shape for me to make a template to get the bends right and were we wanna havin it mounted for besr safety hows that missuor

i think its 1.8 or so it says on engine... u probs kno more than me tho about the dubs so tell me more lol

and im on about the cage tobs lol

we will have a good group of mk1s for the summer those clear lights come up good with a bit of red tint spray thats what my rears are.

Gimme a shout if you want the conversion finishing or you want something else in it mate.

cheers mate mite need sum advice on the wiring at some point... ive had a few ppl say about the red tints on the lights aswell now may give it a try.. open to any thoughts so keep em flowin lads cheers...

dont give him to many ideas everytime i speak to him he come up with more ideas for it the list wis gettin longer by each day lol

The pic of the engine looks like it maybe a 2L agg or 2e lump. If it was me then i'd look for a PB mk2 1.8 gti engine and affectively make the best engine from the 2.

mk2 1.8 8v gti pb head, fueling system and early loom
your original 2L bottom end

mk1 gti exhaust manifold and downpipe with custom alloy spacer

Its got good paint tidy bay its got so much potential this car. Now is the time to decide what u want to do.

sounds good but only thing is i dont want him havin to much more power than me so i wanna get him to have roughly the same engine as me lol

still toying with the idea of tryin to swop my mr2 for a golf vr6 and puttin that in. what sort of work would be involved.. would it be worth it, to heavy etc

Nah, vr6 too much work for what you get over a 16v.

ABF 2L 16v in the mk3 golf would be sweet though

way too much work for the outcome putting a vr in unless you want to charge it... but then a 16vt would be better anyway.

just put a 2.0 16v in it then when you get bored tune that.

do g60 lumps use the same mounts etc as the engine i have as thats priety much my engine wiv a charger bolted on isnt it??

im pretty sure the g60 engine would drop in the same as the 2.0 8v thats currently in there.

basically its a golf gti engine with a supercharger. Basically!!!

you might have issues with finding room for intercoolers etc but its a tried and tested conversion so plenty of people would have the ideas and answers.


the engine in your car at a guess is an AGG 2.0 8v. you can tell this by the breather pipe that goes from the block up to the head/air intake.

as lee said you could very easily fit a 1.8 8v head on top which will/is supposed to offer increased airflow. i have a similar engine in my mk2.

the block is defo a 1.8.my personal opinion it has a different rocker cover on it.can you post pics or the ecu code tob might give people more of a clue what engine its suppose to be.

You'd still need a complete g60 engine conversion including the loom. They are approx 600 plus and thats minus custom intercooler and boost pipes.

Bang per buck would be 2L 16v. I'll have to take you out in my golf so you know what to expect
