Sainsburys insurance assesor came out and had a look at the dent the other day so fiingers crossed!

happily sainsburys have done the decent thing and have agreed to cough up for the damage their driver did and a check is apparently on its way for a similar figure to what the Sheppards quote was.

Also, could not resist seeing what my mk1 wheels would look like on the mk2 :

sorry dude, thought i said last time that it would be unlikely that i make this one...plus got carried away playing with the mk1, by the time i realised the time and packed everything away it was not worth coming!

will check them out sometime if they are not sold by then...

sadly my mk1 project is now breaking :( but at least the sale of bits should finance some of the things i want to do on the mk2 . Also got a cheque for £490 from sainsburys

got these wheels from steve, these will probably end up on emma's mk3 but has to try them on the mk2 for a laugh:



got a tip off from chris (lupton - cheers dude!) about a tidy oak green mk2 breaking at Beck Row breakers so armed with a wad of cash and a caddy van, me and steve (caddyman) went to investigate!

unfortunatly it was a five door but still got lots of useful bits, cant really see why this car was\ breaking as it looked pretty well cared for:

also had a shopping list from some of the guys at work so came back with a load of bits for them too

few more updates.....

found some infinity speakers fitted in the mk1 and thought they looked about the same size as the standard dash speakers in the mk2 so fitted them...im not overly fussed by sound systems but they are certainly a big improvement:





swapped my original worn out clocks for the 160mph 16v ones i got from the scrappie....final mileage on the original clocks 203614 :



new clocks on a lowly 168745 :


changed the metal strip below the grill as it was black one in the correct colour also from the breaker, only minor but looks loads better:



and finally got a big package in the post:

yeah cheers again for the heads up on that one mate! I only really went with the intention of getting a wing and ended up coming back with half the car...it was a good find! Still not quite sure what it was doing in there as it looked too good to break

also changed my 2 dented front wings for 2 straight ones already in oak green:





my front bumper was also nailed where it had been riveted all along the top so that got changed too:

numberplate in the windscreen should only be temporary...when we changed the front bumper i could not drill new holes as my drill has packed up so could not drill new holes in the plate to screw it back on, i tried to stick it but it was a hot day and i had just gelled my bumpers so it kept falling off

leave it off it looks so much better

true mate, i like the look of the front without the plate....but i dont much like the plate in the window either but not gonna risk not running one at all, cant decide!

looking good martin, how much did beck row stiff you for that little pile as he can be a rip off merchant.....................do you have a number for him, i wanna check what Dub stock he has

he charged 200 for that lot which was a little more than i had expected but still cheaper than getting all the bits then having to get them painted etc (I should have lied when he asked if it was the right colour! ). Not got the number im afraid mate, i didnt bother ringing as chris (lupton) had already tipped us off the car was there so just turned up!

what you after bits for? unless he has got more in there certainly wasnt any Rado's there....

need rear light for passat estate and some interior bits, it's a 1999 so does that make it a B5..???

there was definatly a few passats there but dont remember them being estates (although was not giving them a much attention as was not after any bits from them myself!)
