MPG... What do other mk2 golf drivers get

my mk2 seems to be drinking fuel like its going out of fashion. are they all like this or should i be looking to sort a possible problem? what do you lot get out of yours?

what do you call drinking it? What sort of MPG you been getting? 8vs are normally pretty good i could get 40 driving carefully out of my old one and just under 30 when driving it hard.

well iv done 74 miles on 40 quid so drinking it fast although the computer says i m getting 31.3 mpg. it doesnt smell like its got a leak but cant afford to keep it if its gonna stay like that:(

have you hammered it for every 74 miles??

thats is quite excessive, i done Uds and back on £40 yesterday.

could it be your fuel gauge just isnt working/works intermittently?

yes might be, will have to look sooner rather than later...perhaps if i fill up the tank to the brim, drive about a little and see how much it costs to refill. ill let you know:D

my 8v does bout 50 miles on £10

oh the joys of diesel, £10 gets me 120 miles aprox

i think by replacing air filter, fuel filter etc we were getting better return for our money but then sprung a petrol leak as hose split...now we have a problem with it overheating...any one up for a mk2 golf with teething problems? temp gauge sits at 3/4's as opposed to half which would be more desirable...have tried different temp gauges.

Same here, maybe get slightly more miles but not many

my driver is currently doing 45 mpg lol if i drive it slow as lol

that is bad my 16v gives me 22.5 and i thrash it all the time but i dont do many miles so makes it worse as well, has it had a thorough service? if not i suggest oil and filter change, plugs n leads air and fuel filter shud makes things better

is doing better now so not so pissed off with it! will keep it for now soz dudes:roll:
