| haveing a few problems with my 16v. i have now got it to turn over and fire, i had a lose earth wire that went on to the engin. it now starts runs for about 10-15 seckond then cuts, you can restart it no problems but it will just cut again, even if you rev the nuts off it! the car has bin fitted with a after-market alarm system, but i do not have the fob, it look as if it been disconected as all the fuses have been taken out. i was just wonedering if it could be this that is cutting the power to the coil? what do you think? i have read that you can by pass the igintion by wirering the coil up to your battery, has anyone ever tyed this? i have also thort it may be the fule pump or fuke pump relay?? any help would be realy heplfull thanks, Liam. (sorry for the bad spelling) | |

| have any of the fuel pipes been disconnected? or has it stood for a while cuz it might be fuelling at an educated guess.........when i put an engine in my valver in the summer it wouldnt start or run very well because the fuel wasnt getting round, but eventually it cleared itself with time and loads of injector cleaner might be worth playin with the metering head (on top of your airbox) to see if theres fuel there! but as you said if the alarm etc wiring is dodgy then it could be that! if your anygood at figuring wiring out then just rip the alarm out. sorry i cant really be any help tho mate | |

| has been a good morning for the 16v, after some help from the club gti fourm have mannged to get it running. found the problem! it was the overrun run cut off valve had come dissconected from the air box. i reconected it and replaced all the vacume pipes as some were split, only have one more to replace, put a can of petrol in it and it fired up first time, it runs fine and idles fine as well. | |
