Anyone smoothed and painted textured bumpers?

As title really.

heard things about using a heat gun to smooth them but thats about it really.

any help would handy, cheers.

they are sanded to a smooth finish before painting i think

Used a few coats of high build plastic primer and sand down till its smooth.

Wish they had did that to my mk2 the rear bumper is starting to shows signs:(

yeah that does sound more logical!

i was wrong

i sanded the fook outta the bumbers on my mk1, cover them in filler and build up the primer

mine wernt textured. but i had the line smothed out, used plastic weld and fiberglass!

i'd use high build primer....as if u sand plastic too much, or with a too coarse paper, you end up with the plastic "rolling up" or "fluffing". This is when the plastic tears microscopically, and once its done it, its really hard to get rid of. It pokes up above te rest, meaning when its primed etc.....it just keeps getting black spots of high plastic sticking through....

Does that make sense???
