| How bad are Mk1 golfs on coilovers? The one i just braught has the hardest ride in the world i swear, or is it just the way they are? ill find out what make they are eventually and what exact suspension set up it has, but its not even that low at the moment, i want to go lower but fear ill have no spine left. To be honest its as bad as my old one that had cut springs. Does anyone know where i can buy those lowering caps? ill use those to get a few more mm's, and put the suspension up abit i think. | |

| we're all just hard as nails and roll with hard suspension.
I do know though that if you take the assistors out, wind the suspension up a little so its back to the height you had it before. That does make them a fair bit better and not anywhere near as hard. | |

| you cant use lowering caps on coilies mate as the caps are what sit on top of the big springs when using shocks and springs and dont work on coilovers, your cap is already as small as it can be really with a coilie. Id try taking the assistors out. Also whats the state of your topmounts? New topmounts can make your suspension better cause if they are blown they dont work very well. | |

| the whole cars pretty immaculate, so im guessing the topmounts are fine, but imight give that ago too. This is the car but it just doesent seem that low to me in comparison with the ride quality if u get me? This is my old Mk1, Lowered by cutting springs and messing with top mounts, and the ride quality was better than my current golf. | |

| Ok how about a constructive comment. run a slightly smaller wheel with a larger profile tyre get it tucked in the arch and the tyre will take the bump then you can still go low. | |

| Im going to run 15s eventually so gonna go for some of the taller bridgestone smart car tyres i think. probably have the turning circle of a 50p and sh1te handling. but it'll look good and hopefully give me sum more cushion lol | |

| top mounts arent really respective of the cars condition/age. Ask joe how long top mounts usually last on coilovers.. Or me even lol when you run them pretty low on coilies its a gamble of how long they last because you are putting so much more load on them with hard suspension. Dunno if you can get uprated ones for mk1s but i know mk2s you can fit g60 or mk3 vr6 early top mounts so they dont blow all the time | |

| Right then pingu Adjustable damping coilovers can either be adjusted off the car or some will have an adjustment pin on the top of the shock. I guessing yours dont have adjustment damping so here's my plan for you Buy some FK konigsport coilovers, fronts only. i have these on my truck and they are great for the moneys once you've fitted them, sell on your originals. Caddy's only need fronts so they'll sell pretty quick | |

| screw a braket on the bottom of the shelf then use a bungee coed or string and the it to rear panel or spare wheel. And just to add I was correct you are 20 and you are going to get used to it. | |
