| Cheers dude! It wasn't a bad car to be fair, but the missus had been off work sick for 6 months, so needed cash, it was in bits anyway whilst I was building the engine, and it was my only option. The most gutting thing I've ever done, breaking that car. But I have a new one, that was very cheap, so roll on the mods! This is how far I'd got. 2E block ready to be rebuilt. Will be ordering some new rings and main and big end bearings within the next month or two, so I can crack on with it. Built this up last year too....mmmmmmmegasquirt | |

Is it going in Gooney when its all set up then or have you got something else lined up as a guinea pig? Not sure if I 'like' my engine work, as this is my first attempt at doing a rebuild. I was shocked at how simple the earlier VW engines are to be honest though. The motor will eventually be going in Gooney, once its built. I only need a couple of major components left to sort out. Turbo being one, but eBay is my friend , other than that, an exhaust manifold and downpipe and that's about it. Got an inlet manifold sorted, will be using a modified 20v one, just need to find someone local who is handy with a TIG welder. It's be no means gonna be done soon, but I can wait. Building it should be fun I want to sort all the running gear out first though. I've got the front cross member, front subframe and rear axle off the old Rado, that I'm gonna get sand blasted and powdercoated by my brother-in-law (hopefully) and fit them, sort the brakes and possibly some coil-overs and an 02S 6-speed box from an Audi A3, Mk5 Golf or Touran (if I can afford them lol) Plans plans plans....probably never come to fruition though.... We will see I suppose | |

| Hello mate, got some nice plans then I see Good to see someone else messing about a bit more with engines and management. I've just started doing a build for the polo using Emerald and a mish mash of block, crank and cylinder head with a set of custom pistons | |

| Well, managed to get a few things started this weekend. Fitted a new brake line on the O/S rear as I'd buggered the copper pipe when trying to take the standard calipers off. Just need to get some plusgas or summat on the mk4 golf rear caliper bleed nipple as its pretty stuck. Also removed the exhaust that was on there. The centre section was a bodged VR one, so it had about 76 different joins, some of which were sealed with silicon sealant So I've ordered a standard centre silencer/resonator of the Bay of E for £28 delivered Today, as I've given up smoking (day 7 today) I found myself needing something to do, so I thought I'd make a start on my Borbets.... here are some pictures of the progress so far.... Before After Gonna do the centres satin black, so flatted them ready for some paint.... | |
