| Well I bought this a few months back and when I brought it home it was in need of more than a little care and attention. It needed.... A water pump, An auxiliary belt, A new Thermostat, Antifreeze, Temp senders (both) A cambelt, Front pads, A wing, A boot, Various electric repairs. Here it is the day it arrived........ With these horrid 14" things on ....... | |

| So, I found someone to buy the ra's so they went and made way for these..... Not to everyone's taste I agree but hey, So I pulled the old wheels off, inspected the front brakes and if I said they were poor it'd be an understatement. So i looked in my parts bin and found some new 256mm vented discs from a Mk2 16v., some 16v carriers and some new hubs, I popped then on to find a fecked osf wheel bearing, so off it all came to have that done. Great now the brakes are done, did a water pump and associated bits, oil and filter, new motor arm, dp cap and leads. Off for mot and straight through. My Mrs has pretty much just used it and moaned like f**k about it every day just cos she hated it. The only time she cleaned it was when it got snowed on and used the car washing broom to remove the snow... I replaced it the other day, so now It's surplus to requirements, so in the workshop it came and i did this to it.... The nsf wing had a little ding in it. And as I was there I did the other side too....... I'll have the boot off when I find a replacement and have it painted. | |

| This morning I wandered up the workshop and took this...... Looks a little odd with no bumper on. Here's the fecked nsf wing....... Here's It's replacement.... And here's the osf wing hanging on my new paint rail.... I'll be rubbing them down tonight and getting them in primer hopefully. Paint tomorrow then. | |

| How can she hate q Mk2 ?
She doesn't want a car with character or personality, she wants one that won't give her grief.
She could hate anything that has wheels but no air con, air bags, or abs. She says It's because she doesn't feel safe , I say It's cos she doesn't feel confident with her ability to drive. You guide newer cars where as you have to hone your skills in a Mk2.
If you Can't drive a Mk2 properly, you can't drive period.

| I didn't get out to the workshop as early as i wanted to tonight as we had guests. But I get-out there and rubbed both the wings done with 100grit until I'd got them nice and flat. I wiped one back and hung it on the spraying frames and unleashed the primer...... Well, I've just left it for now and I'll key it back tomorrow night then apply some lovely black, Then it'll be sitting infront of the rad in the spare room for a couple of days to harden up before start to polish it back. | |

| Parts one, Got back from work tonight and forced my scoff into my pie hole and ran little 'un to scouts then straight down the workshop. Heres what met me.... A nice dry primered wing. I rubbed the wing down with 400 grit and blew it off then wiped it down with a tack rag. I managed to get two very good coats and used two tins of black into the bargin. I waited about twenty five minutes for it to flash off and took it into the house turned the radiator in the boys play room up to full pelt, hung the painted wing over the back of a chair just a few inches from the rad , opened the windows and left it to do its's thang..... Part Two, Back into the shop and loads of rubbing down till I had got a satisfactory finish, nearly a whole tine of primer and this was the result..... I have now just left the wing hanging till tomorrow night when I will have purchased another two tins of black and I'll apply them. Repeat the drying process in front of the radiator. I will be placing them outside to enjoy the sun rain etc the whole of Friday, Saturday fit them up on the car with the arches where upon I'll leave them for a bit to harden nicely when they'll be cut back and polished smooth. W.T.S..... | |

| Thank you but they ain't silver yet.
The wings went back on this morning along with all the associated bits. God It's dull doing the arch liners.
I replaced the temp gauge sender, now that works properly, plus fed an original period Bosch Ariel in and through the bulk head.
Mark Sparrow turned up. Nothing else got done.
Pics to follow......... | |
