egr valve delete

need a bit of advise really, i have em light on still and took the audi to a local garage, they said its the egr valve, i have been looking up on the net and i seem to have the same issues as many people on the net. so its pointing to egr, now apon reading up about egr's everyone recomends to remove and blank it off.... but no referance to how to do this......

where the egr meets the manifold make a new gasket for it but do not make the hole in the centre
i've done this to my t4 and had no problems with it

so just do that and bolt it all back up together?

basically yes, make a template of you old gasket on some steel sheet ( about the thickness of the gasket) but without the main hole in it then bolt it back on again this will block off the egr . mine is a mechanical egr so i had no management light come on but some are electrical so still put the management light on

cool. will give it a go tomorrow. i have some thin stainless steel knocking about. im not sure on the audi if its electrical, i cant seem to see any wires going to it.

a mechanical egr will have a vacuum pipe attached to it, a bit like washer pipe

will take a look in morning as to dark to see at min. cheers for the help mate
