| The Nissan engined caddy is a good mate of mine's. He's a modest guy and doesn't really shout about his achievements so i thought i'd do it for him lol
The truck started out as a stock and pretty rat farmers wagon. My mate bought a smashed 200sx and this project has been 2 years in the making.
The caddy is running the engine and running gear from the 200, the rear subframe and i.r.s. setup, custom prop, welded diff, front subframe etc etc and the standard of engineering is phenomenol. It looks very o.e. with the rear suspension turrets from the sx blended into the arches in the bed and the engine looks like it was designed to be in there the quality of his work is so good!
Its running around 280bhp now, but my mate has some winter plans for it which should see this go up. Its worth noting that this truck is entirely self built.....he did all the fabricating, the bodywork (its immaculate) and everything else you see on it.....he's a talented guy by any standard. I watched it being built from the concept to the finished article and i'm still hugely impressed by just what a piece of engineering work it is
And the best engineering award at GTI Fest went to......wait for it!........ a golf with a TDI transplant!? There is no justice in the world! lol | |

| Yeah i was shocked! There were some tidy cars there, don't get me wrong, but surely an engineering trophy should look at the work involved, the standard of it, and not be overlooked because of what the engine came out of lol I mean, a VW platform TDI engine into a VW is hardly rocket science....probably needs a bit of skill but its not like you're putting someone on Mars is it?! Putting a forced induction motor from a modern RWD car into a 30 year old FWD farmers wagon and then fitting modern brakes and suspension without using a spaceframe chassis is REAL engineering! It seemed like at least seventy percent of the trophy winners were mates with the organiser anyway.......i guess my mate didn't kiss enough arse before he entered hahaha There were some stunning caddies there and not one walked away with a trophy, yet a fairly stock new model transporter with a set of 22's on it got one. Go figure......... | |
