| when fitting a mk1 water pump is ther any additional sealant required other than the rubber seal given with the new pump,as mine is pissing out water | |

| whenever i remove and fit water pumps i clean up the mating surfaces and then put some silicone round the mating surfaces, though i cant remember which stuff, i remember the last stuff was black and was a motor vehicle gasket specific silicone but FFFF knows what it was called | |

| I'm with Bridgedubber, Clean the mating surfaces with some emery, put a little silicone on one of the surfaces and bolt it up nice and tight.
