The engine number should have a prefix on it ie 9a 00123456 being a 2.0 16v bubble block ie 9a

I'm not sure if this is the same throughout the range.

If it show pb then its an 1800 gti engine(digifant injection) or dx also an 1800 Injection but cis (kjet)

The engine number should be found on a small flat area on the front face of the block just under the head on the right but facing you.

If you cant read it properly rub it with a piece of emery.
