What car is it, what seems to be the problem ?

alrite mate its a 96 golf gti mk3 8v,nothing major just kangaroos a bit.due to change rear shocks as ones shot not sure if thats got anythin to do with it.had it a year now and not had it checked, was just for piece of mind more than anythin lol

There are loads of reasons that could be causing it to kangaroo,
shocks don't cause this, when buggered they crash.
Change out the shocks as a pair and see if it still does it.

The 8v's regulally gum up throttle bodies, have failing or failed Isv
, dodgy leads or collapsed vacuum pipes.

A good pointer to underlying engine problems is the mpg.
If you get good milage then it's probably all good.

I had/have this problem with my 92 GTI, even down to the leaking rear shocks!
One thing Ive noticed is that it does more MPG when the ambient temp is higher.
Going to get hold of some gaskets and do the old throttle body soon.

ah rite cool thx for that ,have cleaned throttle body already with carb cleaner ,havent got round to takin it off and doin it properly yet,cleaned the crankcase breather on rocker cover,went to vw fri and bought new upper breather pipe (£18 if anyone gotta replace),only to put it on and snap the lower breather pipe lol ,all good fun these cars

the only other thing i thought it could be was possibly the engine mounts? as its mainly between 2nd and 3rd ,thought maybe because of the torque? ,like i said pretty new to all this so one big learning curve

Shouldve asked when you were here, ive got several here you couldve tried!!!!
Its a tube shaped item around 6 inches long that is plumbed into rubber hoses just behind the rocker cover.

still unsure if my car has an isv ,coz its not where it shows them on the older engines ,any ideas lol

If you have an agg it should be on the front same as a 2e.

alrite all got my car checked on vagcom today and much to my relief all clear lol,panic over ,thx chaps for ur input
