| Before I get into the whole story, the links to my ~400 photos are here (200 per link): https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=653577&id=744665174&l=4a722224f9https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=653617&id=744665174&l=14ea7fed59Well, it was an awesome show. Left Nuneaton at 10pm, to meet Freddie at the Watford Gap Services for 11pm. Freddie got to the services around midnight, after having a few issues on the way. Just after he scraped into the services, a Police car parked near us - Which, caused a bit of paranoia, Freddie worried they'd have something to say about his car... Which worried me into putting my UK spec plate on, despite the Police having said nothing when they pulled in, to use the services. We got even more worried when a Traffic Officer or VOSA van pulled in, and went round the back of the services. We were convinced they were hiding behind some lorries, waiting to pull us as we left the services. Because of this, we probably didn't leave until about 12:30am. It was all in our minds though, and we got to Surrey without seeing any more Police. Quite lucky I guess, seeing as Freddie's car was sparking on some quite small bumps in the road, being so low (no air)! Here's our cars at the pumps, outside Esher, at about 2:30am We arrived at Sandown Park at around 3am Saturday morning, me having left Nuneaton at 9:50pm on Friday. Needless to say, we were knackered. Luckily the big things stopping people get in had been moved out of the way, so we drove in and parked up, and set our beds up in our cars. Was nice and warm in the car, but, quite cramped with me and the girlfriend laying with our feet in the luggage area, and our heads on the folded forward front passenger seat, haha. Was better than nothing though! Woke up around 8am, to the sounds of aircooled engines, and people wandering around taking photos. Had to snap a few pics of my own though, when I saw these awesome cars arrive: So, we got in the line around 8:20am, after ringing Clive to see if he was here yet - He was, as it turned out - in the queue already Heres a few pics from the queue: | |

| After queuing and being moved around for what must have been hours, we finally got set up near the food stalls... Much better than at the bottom of a grassy hill, REALLY out of the way, where we originally were. Unfortunately just as I parked up, the ratchet on my handbrake became disconnected. Luckily this didn't happen when I was going up or down the grassy hill though (needed to use it once or twice, as I got briefly beached, so had to maneuvre around the steepest part), so, it wasn't all bad! And, thanks to Pete (Stirlingmoz), it was soon fixed again, which really sums up what I love about VW shows. There is always someone willing to help, when something goes wrong! Was awesome to meet you Pete, and I really do owe you a drink at the next show! Wandering around the show, I took hundreds of photos, which are in the links in the first post. I uploaded a couple of big ones to The Samba though, which I liked, so, here they are: Loved the French '58 and Split Beetles. And the T3D built 356 Slamwerks bay looked awesome as usual. I absolutely love Buster's 15 window ratty van. Sympathetic resto's are the best. Interior looked great too, but I didn't get any pics. I was amazed when I saw the Heb Rod in the metal! Some lovely squarebacks: | |

| Stunner of a Ghia. Would love to get a few pics of it with my Ghia one day. Is the owner on here? So many nice green beetles were there! This was certainly my favourite green bug though! Even more so than the Zwitter. That camber, colour coded wheels, and banded steels at the back just worked so well. Zwitter and Cool Flo Barndoor in the background. Nice. And, back outside to the KGOC display! I thought this looked perfect. Spoke to the owner(?), and said it'd be good to meet up and get a few photos of my Ghia with it, after the show, but, come 5pm, and the time we eventually got let out, I was knackered and had forgotten. Another time though, as I'd LOVE to get some photos of my Ghia next to a stock one, and iirc it lives not too far away! And, another highlight of my day... Seeing this 'Zombie' RHD '58, as featured in the current issue of Ultra VW, alongside that stunning Wayne Mack(?) Doka (featured in the current issue of Volks World I believe!). I think there must be something wrong with me though, as I was just in awe of this car. Seems I must have a thing for rust/patina, despite all those beautiful shiny cars that were there... | |

| All those shiny show cars, and yet even more pics of ratty old VWs Nom, Palm Green/Sand Green OG Paint bus. This german look late model was amazing. I'd seen pics on the net before, so, when I was wandering the carpark, I had to snap a few shots of my own. Recognised this Oval, as I did a baaaasic illustration of a stock height one for a friend, after having done a slammed texas brown one. And, to end with... The Karmann Ghia Owners Club lineup, for which I have to thank Clive for letting me display my car there Overall, I had a great time, met a few people for the first time, which was good! Was great to meet you Clive, Pete and Janet! Thanks for getting me in the display, and getting my car sorted, and making sure I got out of the show (after my battery appeared to be dead). After that, I managed to get home without issue. Must have been on the road by about 6, and home and in bed by around 9:30 I guess. Was absolutely shattered when we got home, haha. Also, as a bonus, the girlfriend loved it, and now wants to sell her Shitroen and buy a VW! Cheers, Jamie | |

- Nice write up
I love that texas brown oval and the aired ratty bug with skirts Did you get any good pics of Simon Fox's square? Cheers Yea, they were some nice cars. Couldn't believe that ratty blue bug was on air, considering the beige '64 wasn't, and was SO much lower, haha. Na, I couldn't get any decent pics of it - Too crowded, and wasn't keen on the sans wheels look. Looked amazing though. However, if you check out http://slammedsixty.blogspot.com/Theres a few nice pics of it!

| That's why I asked. I thought you might have some pics with wheels as you were there all weekend! That 64 is stupidly low. It must have been sparking well on the way down | |

That 64 is stupidly low. It must have been sparking well on the way down Ahh, na, I was only there for the Saturday! Wish I'd gone for the entire weekend, definately wasn't enough time to see it all, as by the time I'd got parked up and handbrake fixed, it was almost mid-day, which meant I only had about 5 hours to see everything. On top of that, me and the gf went and cooked our own lunch, so, it was more like 4 hours, haha. Fail. Haha yea, his bug was mental. Mine was hitting the floor on some dodgy bits of road, but, his was hitting on even the slightest bump (once we got off the motorway at least), haha.
