NEXT ISSUE....... My red line is 5000 rpm! it hits a limiter! done it with old dizzy and all the old other bits on..... can work it out its nothing to do with the ECU as as have tryed a differnt one! The car has a Kent fast road Cam. however dont think it would have anything to do with it im stuped! any idears????? | |

| 5k limit means your timing is out, and the ECU has gone into safe mode. | |

| Hmmm, now, is yours an agg or 2e ?
If its agg I have a spare dizzy if 2e then no.
Odd that it limits you at 5k, unless of course you have an agg ecu and are running a 2e dizzy when it will think its seeing 20,000 rpm which is just not feasable and so just cuts it dead.
The agg dizzy has just one cut out and the 2e has four. go check it out, ha ha ha i wish i could see the look on the ecu's face (if it had one) when it got the signal for 20,000 rpm !!!!!
Bet its that.

| hello liam. same happened on my car that it would not rev past 5000 rpm. the cam belt jumps a tooth and then the engine goes into safety mode. you need the cam belt set up again but you should replace it as doesn't cost much for a cam belt and tensioner kit. heard happens alot on mk 3. this bugged me until looked up on the net. | |

| If it had jumped a tooth it should run lumpy as f**k, but therees no mention of that.
I cant imagine Phil put it on a tooth out, but mistakes do happen.

| Absolutely worth checking it out though.
Liam says it feel like an elctrical rev limiter as oppossed to a mechanical one

| Come on Liam I want to know now, have you fixed it. ?
The more I think about it shippy the more I'm inclined to agree with you but as to the ecu being in "safe mode" its a new one on me.
