| you flushed the coolent system through with a hose pipe? the only time you will need to change the matrix is if its leaking. try bleading the coolant system after youve flushed it to get all the airlocks out. | |

| run some system flush through it then run a hose through it. Usually if you run a hose down the matric outlet pipe it will back flush the crap out. Like bridgedubber said you wont need to replace it unless its leaking and believe me you dont want that job if i remember rightly! | |

| never flushed it through as the hose pipe was frozen :( just drained it out then filled it bk up with new coolant then bleed the system it was hot for 2days now has just gone cold again will have to try flushing then at least its not the matrix as its not leaking and jonny you took them had to steal them | |

| Yeah sounds like an air lock to me if it was working after you fitted the new 'stat and has stopped now. Changing the matrix is a right pig of a job apparently so another flush out is worth a go first. | |

| ive changed a few matrix' and it is a SH!T job. you should be alright after a flush and blead. when youve refilled your coolant, start the car, turn your heaters on to hot and max and rev the car constant at about 3000 rpm, with your expansion cap off. keep an eye on the coolant level, fill up when the level drops. air will bubble, gargle and spit out of your expansion bottle and eventually your heaters should start blowing hot. this can take a while, like 5 minutes to half hour depending on your car etc. once happy keep an eye on your coolant level. oh and dont forget anti freeze at this time of year. | |

Thats exactly what we did do. Will have to try it again mate. | |
