Alright guys just wondering if anyone has any experience of messing about with starter motors mine seems to when turned over to engage then disengage and just spin? only seems to happen when its cold i thought rather than spend out on a new one i'd ask the experts first lol

can anyone help a golf in need : )

Have had exact same experience the last few weeks. Took it to Mick at mv developments and he has replaced the positive battery lead to the starter motor. He reckons this will cure it as it was a very poor connection with the old lead. Will let you know in the morning if it worked.

sounds like the solenoid is stuck or frozen back.

Earth lead may cure it if not then a good sound smack with a hammer on it sometimes cures it.

Ocassionally you can remove the solenoid and clean and re-grease it.
