Robs Mk4 Golf Empty
PostSubject: Robs Mk4 Golf   Robs Mk4 Golf EmptySun Oct 10 2010, 19:20

Been on here a while now and havn't done a build thread yet. So here goes! Bought the car in April, V reg mk4 1.6 with 83,000 miles. Good little runner (after i'd replaced the camshaft sensor due to a misfire/hesisation) in good condition and was my first car!

Only gave the car a clean for the first few months as money was tight. All i did was remove the hub caps. Wasnt too keen on this look and did put them back on.

Stayed like this for a while until i picked up these cheap! Audi TT Ronals 17". Saw them on Edition38 and drove down to Rainham in Essex one Saturday morning.

They were in reasonable condition, but gagging for a re-furb. So i did the prep work myself and got my mate to spray them for me. Silver was a bit boring so decided i'd go for Anthracite...

17" alloys and standard suspension = embarrasment. So i bought myself a set of JOM coilovers. For £165 from DPM Performace, you can't go wrong!

Here's the car with the alloys before the coilovers went on...

And then with them...

I'm happy with the fronts but the rears still need a bit of adjustment. Gonna wait and see how much they settle and will adjust to suit during the week.

Next on the list is a set of new rear lights. Probably gonna go with the US spec style. Was planning on colour coding the mouldings, but i think they go well witth he Antracite alloys if im honest so gonna leave em for the time being. Also gonna get a Sharan rear badge and a Polo or MK5 rear wiper.

I'm planning to make the October meet so will be good to see people there.

Cheers

Rob

Haha no worries mate. I quite like the black mouldings with the anthracite alloys. Complement each other. Got a mk5 rear wiper on the way and will be painting my calipers red at the weekend.

When is the next meet btw?

This looks fantastic! Great transformation mate.

The thing that brings it bang up to date is the colour-coded rubstrips.
Those and the anni kit certainly compliment the red really well.
And the CH's work nicely. Very nice!

Just bring it down a bit on the front to match the rear and you're onto a winner. Thumbs up

Thanks for all the comments lads Smile

For the record CH's are 9J all round with 215/40 rubber. 12.5mm front spacers and 20mm rears. Yeah i know mate the front end needs to come down sharpish. Ive still got the standard anti roll bar in and it dont rub!! embarrasment lol. Need to get hold of an r32 one cos dont really wanna run without it.

got a sharan badge for the rear then private plate next month hopefully. Very Happy
