PostSubject: spraying bumper   spraying bumper EmptyWed Jul 21 2010, 07:42

Couple of questions.

1. I bought my Mk3 a couple of months ago,
it's Mystic blue (purple) and have noticed a few cosmetic bodges from
the previous owner.
The rear bumber has had a scrape and has been
badly colour matched on the corner, what primer/ paint can i use? or is
it just normal car paint......... i wasn't sure as it is on plastic.

Also
halfrueds don't do my paint code, do the main stealers do paint in an
aerosol?

2. I also found a few paint marks/ scratches in various
places, whats the best thing to get rid of them? is T cut an option or
is there something better.

cheers

Halfords do a special plastic primer, 300ml can @ £5.99 iirc, you can then spray your paint/lacquer over that.

They will also do your paint, you just need your code and they will look it up on the system. However the cans they mix are good colour matching wise, but the fan nibs are awful.

As for the scratches it depends how deep they are, if you can catch you fingernail in it you wont be able to. T cut is good but the particles dont break down as you use it, ending up with you putting finer scratches in. Id use the meguiars paint cleaner, its the best stuff ive ever used.

Yes i do work for Halfords spraying bumper Icon_razz

As you work at Halfords, do you know if they sell Anthracite in an aerosol, i was looking at re-spraying my rims on a set of BBS 2 piece wheels.

Chris.

They look great. Are the lips polished alloy or painted.

I was going to get the centres powder coated in Anthracite, are yours powder coated or rattle can?

Washed with auto glym clean wheels, lips are then clayed and the wheels sealed with auto gylm sealant.
