| the 9a engine i planned on has fallen through so to speak.. so for now im planning on putting the bike carbs ive just bought onto my 1.3 (i know it wont do much, more for looks and to get used to having a play with the carbs really). am i right in thinking its just a case of replacing my pierburg with the bike carbs (obviously with a new manifold), and thats it other than setting it up? or will i still need a bike/aftermarked fuel pump? and where would that need plumbing to? also.. would a 1.6 driver head from a mk2 fit onto the 1.3 block? or would it not be worth doing? Reason for the 16 valve not going in yet is insurance... 3 more points on at the end of the month, and the price with the engine change is mad.. so i shall wait till feb (21) before that goes ahead. Cheers in advance.. Jonny | |

| Look at Bogg bros for a manifold and eBay for a facet fuel pump that makes 3-5 psi and wire it to a switched live and your good. | |

Cheers in advance.. Jonny The 1.6 head wont fit as its a "big block" and your 1.3 is a "small block", no point changing the head anyway as a bigger capacity engine will have a bigger combustion chamber meaning lower compression(or are these flat heads with bowled pistons i cant remember?) Anyway leave the head alone. A polo GT cam would be good upgrade for you. With the bike carbs you probably wont need much change of fueling for a little 1.3, block up the auxillery air pump hole(i think thats the name i forget now) and maybe need to raise the needle a bit but you wont have to do much to get it right, i recommend a bike fuel pump though as they are small and have a pressure reg and non return valve in them like thermal says, they are built for the job really. Getting a good manifold made that keeps the carbs at the correct angle is crucial though for the floats and fueling. | |
