| got a lazy starter on my mk2 gti 8v '88' golf. need to replace as its doin my head in but not sure wot starters from wot models fit. any help much appreciated..............any1 got 1 for sale will help aswell cheers | |

| Tbh it's not normally the starters on these it's normally the leads to them and the earthing straps. If the motor turns ok I bet it's the leads. It costs very little to replace them, you could even use large gauge stereo cable, make sure the earths done as well and clean up the contacts well.
I've had no end of 'lazy starters' and all but one of them was cured with decent cables the one that wouldn't be cured actually had a dead spot and when it was replaced it already had the new leads so was all good.

| The earths are normally the main culprit as they look ok but are not so renew them anyway a really good clean up can sometimes do the trick. | |

| i had this issue with the 16valver turned out it was an underpowered battery! was a 60amp (i think) popped on a 75amp and all sorted | |
