Depending on the style of the interior, I would agree.
Sometimes I think Pioneer look really good in the dash too.

IMO, Alpine sh!t all over Sony ICE on so many levels.
Alpine are purely a company that produce ICE. They've had plenty of years practice in doing so, and is justified by the high price tag. The hardware itself is solid, with nothing falling off and the dial feels really smooth between notches when adjusting volume. On some models the colour variation is up to 300 different colours you can achieve to match your dash.
And with dedicated iPod full speed integration, that ticks the boxes for me.
Sony on the other hand dabble in everything electronic so dont have expertise in car audio like Alpine/Becker/Nakamichi etc.
They have very limited options on matching in with the interior/dash lights. They also decide to produce the worst volume/clicky dial thing on any headunit. Whenever I see them I always think that its gonna snap off. They may provide more bass than an Alpine headunit, but surely if you're running a sub & amp you can adjust the bass properly on the amp itself? Headunits are only meant for fine tuning the EQ (unless its a competition style HU).
Anyway, thats just my opinion.
The only Sony headunit I would actually consider getting would be the XAV-70BT...

know a few brands which seem to be gooduns, just looking for your input.
Dont
really wanna be spending more than around £70.
Must support iPod,
main priority, and Ill be running a sub off it at some point, so any
advice on those too would be of help.
Anything you'd advise me
on?
Cheers boyos. And girlos.
Ok, so i'm guessing this is for your Polo 6n right?
Interior is similar to that of the MK3 Golf in that the dash lights and switches are green iirc.
So First thing I would recommend is matching the HU colours up to your dash lights. Pretty simple job for a car with green lights on the dash as most often you'll find units with green buttons.
Then you want to judge it on how the unit looks and performs. The quality of the components, the sound they produce. Are you going for big bass, or crisp sound? Are you uprating the speakers or keeping them standard? Obviously face-off units are a good option as they deter thieves.
Last thing is the brand/price. If you like a certain brand and have had no problems with them, then they would be a likely choice. Try having a look over at TalkAudio -
http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/They know their stuff.
Its not gonna be easy to find a decent unit for that amount of money as they all tend to be priced around £100+ nowadays.
In my personal opinion, I think that these would be the best units for you, around your budget (based one being green to match your interior dash lights)...
Alpine CDE111R - A little over budget, but gives you iPod, USB and Subwoofer controls
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cde-111r.htmlJVC KD-R412 - On budget, with USB and Aux in ports. Also has subwoofer control
