Another engine conversion rolls out of the barn.... This is Beki's Jetta as she got it last year She got it from Will Risely from Crazy Dubs. It was previously matt pink At VW Action last year All was ok until the end of the year when the 1300 decided it wouldnt start. We tried everything and it wouldn't fire so we tested the compression and it was very low. We decided it needed a turbo diesel for good daily mpg and more speed. We found a 1.6 td from a b3 passat so got to work We like mk2 turbo diesels Mark b on reversing duties Getting it in the barn we had a few people over to help out! Goodbye to the knackered 1300 and 4 speed box 5 speed box donated by marks caddy barn pics Turbo diesel in and power steering rack 1st night out of the barn. Testdrives up the track Finished with the new bonnet with beki's sticker collection! Side repeaters on for mot Thanks to the Dub Baron himself, Mark b and anyone else that helped with anything. It's a lot faster now with a good dirty diesel sound and turbo whistle and is so much better on fuel. 5 gears and power steering make driving better too. Turbo diesel FTW Plans are new wheels and to tune the engine up for more speed and black smoke!

She wants to get some deep 13s for it but I think she should get something a bit bigger. We got more stickers to go on the bonnet now from Stanford Hall. Kinky Micks stickers Bex has also decupatched the sun visors so they have got to go in. It's got a GTI interior and she wants to recover the seats aswell.

The rack fits onto normal roof bars so is universal. I actually got it to put on my mk4 but havent got round to getting roof bars for it yet. I got the thule rack second hand from jimmymidnight but i think they are quite cheap.

It seems like Tescos website is quite good for roof baskets or try ebay. You could borrow this one if you can get some roof bars that fit yours. RTTS should be fun. I think we're taking the Jetta but because she's a teacher Bex can't get the Friday off so we're driving late.

and to quickly thread jack, the best place for baskets is Halfords - they have the Thule one in the pics above for £20
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_221451_langId_-1_categoryId_165760 - but it will only work on square bars - other baskets normally cost more. |

Terry I dont think I'll be at this months Fendubbers. I should be half way down the M5 to Cornwall all being well! Jimmymidnight is the man in the know about roof stuff! It wont fit on a mk4 roof bar then unless they are square ones. Big Cable ties and lots of duct tape should solve this however
