mk4 Polo mudguards..

Not sure if this has been posted before, so apologies if it has.

Gonna remove mudguards tomorrow, looked at them before and realised the bolts attatching them to the arch weren't alan keys as I once thought (or they may have been, but look mis-shapen?). Should I get a flat-headed 'driver between them an pop them off, or is there an easier way?

they might be torx screws. you might be able to get a small screwdriver in. i have some bits that will fit if you get really stuck
