Oh tizzy boy, some do have a carb il think you'll find Sorry Dan34 all mk3's have injection, single point on all except the gti's and vr's. Thats acording to autodata, because from 92 they had to have cats as standard by law to meet emissions.

| Engine ABD has injection too. I'm not sure as to why yours had a carb but its the first I've ever heard of, they are not the most relable injection systems so maybe some one changed it ? What make of carb was it as that might be an indicator as to factory fit or not. | |

| Just found out the ABD has single point injection, but not true injection i dont think, its described more as an electronically controlled carburettor? if that makes anymore sense. | |

| common mistake because they look like a carb, a LOT of single point injection units look like it.. single point injection pretty much is just a single injector instead of jets in a carb basically. | |

Which gti do you have as they have other issues, normally air leaks or collapsed pipes. have you got an 8 or 16v ? and I'll post the check list for that if ya want.

| Actually, just been and checked and the check list is the same for all of them as the one posted. The tps's on these have an occassional glitch (check with an old style avo or oscilloscope), cleaning the throttle body is normally the first thing to do though, carb cleaner and a clean rag. I've seen vacuum pipes beak down and collapse inside so its worth pulling all the pipes and checking, all the flexible hoses need to be checked that they hold vacuum too, dont forget the two bungs on the servo pipe as they love to break down, perish and leak like sieves. If you can plug it in vagcom, that might help point you in the right direction. plugs can break down under compression when they get a little old and the gap too large. I hope this helps. | |
