i rang a guy from Ebay to quote me on a blue Mohair roof, he's based in Croydon and said if i take car to him it'll cost £295 supplied and fitted, if he comes to me and fit mobile its an additional £45. I then rang a guy from the MK1 Owners Website and he quoted me £420 supplied and fitted, but he had a few people moaning about the roof sagging on the corners.

I took mine to that guy in Croydon last March, he supplied a mohair roof and fitted in less than the time it took to walk to a pub have a couple of bevvys and lunch and a mooch about a few shops.
He was only a backstreet garage working on 2 to 3 cars at a time, but hes highly recommended.

you know that the roof will not come with a rear metal frame (at least i don't think so)

so they will reuse yours!

I would avoid this company at all costs personally! I had him replace my mk1 roof and headliner, the outside was ok tbh (nothing stood out as amazing or bad, it is still working and looking ok, it was a mohair one) but he fucked up the inside somehow and all the seams split within a few weeks. I took it back to him and he begrudgingly repaired it badly!! it was supposed to be a perfect new roof but he sewed the liner up by hand and all wonky! it looked s**t so I again complained, this time he replaced the liner but when I picked it up it had loads gluey fingerprints and dirty marks all over it! I pointed this out to him and was pretty much told to f**k off! he would not sort it out. So I'd paid him 900 quid and still got a s**t looking roof lining. The most annoying thing is that my original lining wasn't ripped or anything it was just dirty and I wanted a nice clean one. Just really bad customer service.
