| i want to upgrade the brakes on my 8v before i do any engine work so i am putting together a check list. if there is anything i've missed out on then please let me know - cheers 16v servo 22mm master cylinder 256 calipers new pads and discs does any body know if i can just swap the calipers over or do i need some new hubs? if anybody has got any bits they wanna sell then gimme a shout. cheers. | |

| As far as I'm aware the 8v hubs won't take the 256mm calipers, I think the old driver hubs ect (and obviously 16v hubs) can take them, but not the 8v. BUT, the 8v hubs can take the 280mm g60 setup. I'd say your about right with that list, although you could get some new hoses while your at it, and some new fluid. | |

| just put corsa b 1.6 16v calipers straight on me mk1 cabby wiv mk2 16v golf 256 discs bud.....just needed to get different bolts to fit calipers though....NOT 1.2 or 1.4 16v corsa ones though as the gap for the disc is not wide enough.. | |

| I've just fitted the 256's from tigra to my caddy. £10 for the calipers with pads. | |

| For the mk2, pretty much all 8vs used a cast in carrier its part of the hub and cannot be changed therefore bigger brakes cannot be fitted. To fit bigger brakes you need to get 16v hubs, dont get anything off a driver etc as the driveshafts aren't likely to fit as they are a different size. Get a full 16v brake setup, wouldnt worry too much about going to all the hasstle of changing MC and servo unless the engine has to come out etc the servos are horrible to get out.
Or get 16v hubs then get g60(or early vr6 280mm) carriers and calipers, g60 pads and discs, thats pretty much the best brake setup you can get on 4 stud without going to other makes or going 4 pots etc. | |
