PostSubject: Re: Mk3 Golf Cab - The End.   Mk3 Golf Cab - The End. - Page 8 EmptyThu Aug 26 2010, 22:46

Another day...another update...well small oneanyway

As my mate Dean is spraying the car I figured i'd try and do more than priming and top coat my bumpers so I had done them from start to finish...

I wet flatted them both along with my trims and started top coat and lacquering.....

BMP muthafuckkkkkkka!!

Front

Mk3 Golf Cab - The End. - Page 8 P100824_165946

I missed an edge on this so Dean is going to blow that in after it's flatted for second lacquer...I didn't get a great finish on this one but luckily as I said it's having a second coat of lacquer.

Rear

Mk3 Golf Cab - The End. - Page 8 P100824_170000

The rear came out pretty good...BUT I got a FAIL of a run on one of the corners...so this will be flatted out and then second lacquered...to be fair this was my first attempt at painting something large...I still have so much to learn about spraying so for the time being I will be sticking to just priming and doing prep and the final polishing of things...most people think spraying is a piece of p**s but I can safely say it isn't as there's so many factors to take into account with the paint/lacquer you're using aswell as the apparatus and the actual product you are painting...i'm just lucky and have a well experienced sprayer as a back-up plan!!!

Onwards to perpping and sorting out the smaller dents....I don't expect the car to be a 'show car' finish when done but this car has always been about being a learning curve to me so I do expect a few things to not be 100% kosher and have a few blips on the way.

Mk3 Golf Cab - The End. - Page 8 P100824_192048

I will probably roll to ED38 like this as i'm in no rush to get all of the paint work ready for then...yeah it would have been nice but to be fair i'm doing the car for myself and not for a show so i'd rather get it as right as i can without rushing it.

Thankyoutabubbye Very Happy

Sooooooo after getting a confirmation call at the monthly meet lastnight that my bumpers had been second coated I eagerly headed over to the workshop to polish them up......

Rather happy with the result...and more so to be polishing something that goes on MY car!!!!

Will finish the rear tomorrow then it's time to crack on with those wheels...and more importantly decide on a colour.

Cheers dude...plenty more to come!!

My mate Dean does the spray side of things and I can't thank him enough.

BMP was the right colour choice as it looks so nice in the sunlight and without it!!

Not this year i'm afraid!!!

Maybe in time for the September meet but i can't guarentee that as it all depends on funds and timings etc.

Errrrrrrrm whateverrrrrrrrrrr James....

I think you'll find that that's a 6n2 behind me...not a 6n

Grill is kinda growing on me....

I like this pic, and what it symbolises......Driving around hitting people with foam lances...for no apparent reason.

Most of yesterday was spend doing more filler work and getting the profile of the arches back after hammering them before....

Next weekend should see prep finished with any luck and also need to get moving on with these as they are gathering dust in the workshop...

I like both colours, but i think the blue wins, as they would go great with bright pink callipers!

October meet is a possibility to have it painted by then!!

Dropped the back some more added some 10mm spacers to the rear courtesy of JRF Enhancings LTD.

May have a play with the front tomorrow before the meet if it isn't raining.

Kinda glad it's not painted as in sorting out the height it has shown me that I need to take a dremel and cutting discs to stop the rears from catching...may need a bit of camber too.

I'm also looking forward to my one off mods that i have planned for next year.....I say one off but i actually mean 'not done to a cabby......I think?!?!?'
