| to anyone who has rattle canned their car, did anyone properly prep them like sand them down etc, or did you just prime over the current paint? i know i sound like a simpleton, but thats because i am... cheers guys!  |

| I'd go over the current paint with something like scotchbrite first then the primer has something to bond to. But i never sprayed properly only used rattle cans to do things like mirror covers etc but these has always worked ok for me |

| never painted a whole car before but am known to paint the odd panel a funny colour.
i usually just sand the panel down quickly, maybe for 5 mins and then primer, colour and laquer.
all this will depend on the panel colour, the colour your going to use and the finish you want. |

| depends how well you want it to come out.
when i sprayed my car i took about a week of prep (but there was a lot of fullering to).
i went over my entire car with 120/80grit. not down to the metal but down to the primer in most places. then i went over most of it in 1200 with the electric sander to matte it all.
that was a few months ago and from hail to sunshine the paints held up |
