Hey all my name is Mike and ive just joined up. I dont actually own a VW atm but im seriously considering one for my next car (currently drive a mitsubishi colt C5 gti thats a tad too expensive to run) so thought id join up and see what i could learn that would help! What ive got in mind is either a mk2 or mk3 Golf (non gti) and and maybe lower it and rat it up a bit!

Haha i did see it in the for sale section and loved the look of it! Whats the 1.4 like on insurance costs and motorway driving? I tend to do a fair few motorway journeys so want something that can hang at about 80 with ease.

insurance is pretty damn cheap, im on my own at 18 with 1yncb and its about 700. your best bet is giving hic a call and getting a quote.

to be honest i never drive it at 80 so i wouldnt really know, i stick at about 65/70 usually and its fine. i think a constant 80 would be pushing it a bit to be honest

The insurance sounds about right then lol. I found a mk 2 1.8 golf driver on autotrader yesterday with 75 000 miles for £950, was quite tempted by that! Still not sure whether to go mk 2 or mk 3, opinions people?
