| so i used to have this rubbish squeaking coming from the front drivers side upper control arm, now had new springs fitted all round, new rear shocks and replaced the front drivers side upper arms, drove it about 50cm from tha garage and now when you turn the steering wheel it makes the worst noise in the world, can someone please tell me this is a simple problem, or i may just give up and buy a scooter... thanks peeps! | |

| it's a rubbing noise, like the garage didn't grease it up when they put the new control arms in or something, it's pretty loud.
yeah, sh!t luck with cars in general at the moment!
got to sell the wheels now too as the offset is too low! rubbish...

| Hmmm it could be that. i assume you had the top mounts off the fit the new springs, was they tightened up properly? | |

| i would assume so, it took teh garage 8 hours to fit springs, change one control arm set and replace one rear shock... | |

| sounds like could be a spring not quite seated right maybe.. or crap in the top mount bearing making a noise? best bet is to take it back and complain not something silly like power steering fluid low? that would make a nasty noise when steering. | |

not something silly like power steering fluid low? that would make a nasty noise when steering. yeah i agree that it sounds like a top mount issue from how you've described it. and as james said, take it back and complain. 8 hours for that work seems a bit extreme too. ive never worked on an audi tho...

| yeha, im dropping it back on sunday, might have a proper look around tomorrow first.
it's definately around the steering/suspension as it's makes the worst noise when turning atlow speeds, and when the road is bumpy.

| th reason it sounds loader at low speed is jsut cuz you can hear it more id have thought, i still think its to so with the top mount in some way cuz really that control arm aint gonna make loads of noise and nothin else should have been touched. | |
