PostSubject: engine problems   engine problems EmptySat Mar 14 2009, 11:36

just had my fault codes read and it has came up with g28,

i have been told this is either the crank sensor or something else with the part number 028907319E but gsf couldnt find out a price or name for this,

vw have told me that the crank sensor is £190 plus vat so i am looking for another one,

anyone got any idea what the other part number is and looks like and where is it on the engine

Just had a look on ETKA and it lists that part number as a impulse sender, £159 +VAT.

It lists in the page with the injection pump.
I presume its a diesel engine?

aye it sure is a petrol mate,
i rang seat up and gave them the part number and they told me it is an impulse sensor and when i asked him what it done he told me it measured the speed of the crank which to me is the same as the crankshaft sensor,

i have had 2 prices, £190+vat from vw and £218 from seat, gonna find out if i can get a pattern part a bit cheaper maybe, could do without the £200 bill for a 6inch long cable!

i think i know which one it is.

does it plug into the bottom of the block, near to the starter motor.

if so this is redundant in my mk2 ABF, ive currently just cabled tied the wire to something else. its a wire that joins to a plug on a bung type thing that goes into the block ???
