| Got some help in the way of tyeness for next Saturday to help me fit the roof properly Then hopefully will have chance to get some grinding done on the inside to get the interior cleaned right up. Ordered connectors, heatshrink etc today so should be able to start with the wiring loom fairly soon leaving enough slack on the ends to connect up to the engine bay stuff. | |

| Hoping to have a reasonable weekend on the Jetta. Plan is to...
- get the Front end up on axle stands and strip out the steering column, steering rack and wishbones.
- finish stripping the underseal off the front end.
- decide on which bits of inner wings/firewall can be cut out in order to be replaced as it will be easier than welding up all the spot weld holes...then make up the templates for the replacement pieces.
- Remove front suspension.
- Label up the original Jetta plugs which will be reused.
- Label up the mk3 loom (using the label maker from work so at least these ones won't rub off
- Compare the bonnet with a mk1 golf one to see if there are any differences...if there aren't then i know i can order a golf fibreglass bonnet instead.
- Remove the bonnet hinges as i won't need them.

Just borrow mine out the lockup and see if it fits on yours dude! Sound like a productive weekend, I'm gonna sit and plan out all my wiring stuff this weekend hopefully. I'm ready for the headaches

| Got the front end in shell form now Started cleaning up the inner wings again, and marked out which bits of the body i can cut out. Not just need to make templates and cut out some fresh metal to be welded in Ground off all brackets inside the bay. Fairly good progress...but plenty more to come | |

| Only a small update. Got planning with a few things. Decided i don;t want to just cable tie the gauges to the cage as i originally planned, so drew up a box for the gauges to sit in. then marked up and cut out in some spare metal i had. and foolhardy drew it up in 3D for me Gauges i will be running are...
- Oil Temp (got already)
- Oil Pressure (got already)
- Water Temp (need to buy)
- Wideband (need to buy)
- Fuel Pressure (need to buy)
Haven't decided if i will run the nitrous pressure in the gauge pod or on the switch panel which will have the nitrous control stuff on. Need to order all the gauges from the states as they are half the price...and sticking with Autometer to match my existing gauges. Need to find room to mount the speedo at some point as well. Will no doubt end up covering the gauge pod with Leopard print material

| Good work Mike.
I like my Autometer gauges too. Good idea with mount too but couldn't you just use a sheet of carbon fibre to mount them?

| I could use a sheet of carbon fibre but I'm being picky and want to have as much wiring hidden as possible. Should look fairly neat I think as there will just be one grommet with all the gauge wiring running together. | |

| Just been tidying up the garage and making room to work on the Jetta again. Found my gearbox I got off here a while ago so decided to see how it cleans up.
The gearbox code is CHN so is from a Corrado/Golf/Vento VR6...gearbox ratio are as follows
1st - 3.300 2nd - 1.944 3rd - 1.308 4th - 1.034 5th - 0.838 Final - 3.389
So my question is how will this box drive? And what diesel 5th could I put in to lower the 5th gear and the cruising speeds for the motorway?
Cheers Mike | |

| Well bit of a shitter to be honest...looks like this box won;t fit the block i have, so will be stripping the gears out of it. Now need to find an 02A box from a 4 cyclinder car if anyone knows of one going cheap? Then just need to find a diesel box so i can steal the 5th gear out of it One step forwards 3 steps back... | |

| Still on the hunt for a gearbox. Made a decision over the weekend that i want the car caged and painted by DC12 next year. Probably won;t have an engine by then but i want the major bits done so i can start showing the car for advertising Just need to sell my carbs now as they won't be big enough and i will have the money for the cage. | |

| Am at a complete loss as to what to do at the moment with the Jetta. I'm half tempted to sell the bits i have at the moment and buy a G60 lump to go in it as i want a supercharger...
But at the same time i want aircooled.
Don't know what to do...
