An introduction and the latest addition to the fleet Empty
PostSubject: An introduction and the latest addition to the fleet   An introduction and the latest addition to the fleet EmptyMon Feb 02 2009, 15:29

Hi all,

Been to several fen dubbers meets, including the one last friday - top meet!

Well i thought it was about time I said hello and thought I'd introduce myself to my latest project:

The car in question is a 1984 Golf. The person that bought it new was obviously quite the tight git as i don't think you could get a lower spec'd golf, being a 1.05litre, 4 speed, devoid of trim and side repeaters, low back seats Shocked even has no clock!

Right, the plans for this is to transplant an AAZ engine in (be picking up tomorrow), 5 speed 'box (check), power steering setup (check), lots and lots of sound deadening (check), various smaller mods (electric windows, red rear lights etc.) and obviously coilovers and some decent wheels (still to be purchased) oh and of course replace countless perishable items.

Sadly the car is a little bit battle scarred so i will be giving it a total respray in the very near future too.

When the engine and box and a few small bits are sorted i am going to be swapping my current daily, a 2001 Bora TDi for the golf, purely because I find the Bora quite incredibly dull (some would say this is a good thing having not broken down in a years commuting 50+ miles a day...) hopefully this won't turn out to be the worst idea ever!

Just before the pictures, i would like to add a small list of things which I need pretty urgently to get the project started, so if anyone can help on the following items, please PM me:
Drivers body seal (runs up a pillar and along side of roof) for 3 door, must be perfect condition
    Passenger door handle
Early spec drivers door with no trim holes
OG Passenger front wing, no trim holes
    Boot struts that work...
    Turbo diesel fuel tank

Right, enough talk, a couple of pictures to whet your appetite:

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Smile

Sadly i don't have everything for it yet, but I am slowly stockpiling
all the parts. Basically I've got loads of projects to finish off
before i get round to that, so i'm just looking out for cheap parts as
and when I find them.
But when you find a genuine '53 UK RHD oval for £100 it doesn't matter how many parts are missing!

Oh yeah, saw your golf last friday, very cool mate! sadly mine won't be going that low, would never get over the speedbumps at work!

Mark.

a 50's vert? aren't we all!!

nice wheels matty cheers also, the first mk1 that i liked with the bodykit on!

quite possibly curtis, i've certainly seen it in many places, i think you were at the splitterz meet as well? need to have a good look through your new project, but looks good from what i've seen.

sadly i'm still looking for the body seal, does anyone know someone that might have one? I can't start doing much to the interior yet as it's rapidly becoming a protected habitat for fish Rolling Eyes
