| just thought id tell the world (fenland) that my loving papa has decided to let me clear the garage and buy a cheap golf to store and work on as a project,
i have no like experience with doing stuff to cars so was ondering for my first one should i get a bog standard one or maybe a slightly done up one to give me a start? or is it a matter of my own preference?
any sort of help would be much appreciated
Cheers Dave
p.s the pool table i have for sale has to go to make way for this car..... *hint hint* lol

| It totally depends on what your goals for the car are. No doubt paying a premium for a minter if you're planning a respray, for example. | |

| youve also got to think about your skills. silly getting a car that needs loads of welding if you cant weld/dont have a welder. same with a respray, if you cant spray or dont have the gear and cant afford to have it sprayed then you should get one with decent paint.
youve just got to think about what you can do, how much money you can put into it and also how much time.
probably best as your first project to get something nice and clean to play around with, coilovers, wheels, lights interior maybe just to get you going.
ive had really serious projects before and ended up selling because there was waaay too much work.
just a little something to think about.

| basically thats what im thinking something to dip my fingers into to get started, a nice clean one just set of alloys lower, the basics really but something to build my taste for modifying.
thats what i was thinking, i can weld and stuff, but done have the equipment, so obviously not looking for it.
cheers Dave | |

| you find these cars by keeping your eyes and ears open. look on ebay, autotrader, piston heads, local papers etc and just keep a look out at whats behind garges i.e part ex cars that they dont really want and you can get for nothing as long as your good at bullshitting people | |

| i look for the slightest thing wrong with something and play on it mate! alot of the time places just wanna get rid of such old cars and will snap your hand off if offer some cash! when i bought the £200 mk3 it had no mot or tax and was looking dingy in the corner of the car lot for £450 after pointing out the fact that i had seen it there for over month and it needs tyres and a good service etc as it has no history.....he said he would take £250, i said £180 and we settled on £200 Piece of piss! | |

| the scirocco GT is a 1.8 and the chepest insurance i can find is around 1600pa, so its annoying, but loking at it, if i shove the car in the garage fix it up a bit, i can the insurnance for around 1000 after my licence is a year old, which is tempting, but got to work out wether i can see myself in a rocco then? lol
but gotta get my dads details and see if its any cheaper
