car wise maybe the 1.8 8v mk2is quicker because the mk3 ways so much but i would of thought the 2.0l would be a faster engine???

i suppose as well the mk2 1.8 8v engne has an iconic status aswell.

ive considered putting in a 2.0l 8v in my blue mk2 when the engine finally gives up but i dont know how straight forward it is and besides ive got to do my valver soon in the next few weeks.

just use the mk3 bottom end with your head, the mk3's were crap due to a crap cam and head, a 3 extra bhp from going 1.8-2.0 something was wrong lol. get the weber rejetted for the extra capacity.

well its the same block as yours apart from bore size pistons etc, you will be probably a little more powerfull than a standard 1.8 8v gti. be easier to just buy a nice gti tho mate
