im doing my head gasket soon and was wondering if anyone knows where i can get it pressure tested and skimmed if it needs it, and also how much it'll be?

what are the chances of there being a problem with the block?

anythin else i can do with the head off that wont cost loads?

if your gonna have the head off you might as well just give it all a damn good clean and decoke. Take the valves out. Decoke all the ports and relap the valves in with valve paste and a grinding stick. Redo the valve stem oil seals while its all apart as well its a quick and easy job and they will come with a head rebuild kit with your headgasket.

Buy the best headgasket you can... dont skimp on it unless you like doing a job twice.

Dont listen to anybody who tells you to port and polish it or anything cause on standard injections you wont get any gains what so ever just a loss of torque from the lowered air velocity

try Dick at head racing developments near ely. he sorted my head out on my polo. he really knows his stuff and can do performance goodies too. he'll supply you head set too if you need it.

yeah, tappets may be on way out. they're not too expensive and well easy to renew once ur cams out.

like tiz said, while the heads off go nuts wiv it and do it all proper. dont buy a bga headset (i learnt hard way). give it all good clean and lap the old valves in.
