Big thanks to everyone making it what it is and a bigger thanks to those travelling further afield.
Possible change of location to a large services for next months me thinks. Hmmm I'm not so sure about this, yeah it was cold and all that but I think moving the meet could be the start of the end. The cars will be diluted amongst the general public and most peeps will simply dive into the warm rather than stand about chatting and admiring each others rides. Cambridge also seems to be pretty central to the core people who turn up every month. I could be completely wrong but if it aint broke get a thicker jumper

| In all honesty i think meets should stop after a certain point because of the winter because.
1) People are starting winter projects and spend their time on that
2) Cars are looking crap because of the weather and you cant really wash them
3) A lot of people are putting their nice cars up for winter and not bringing them out
4) Everybodys got crappy winter wheels on either to "fit in" or to actually protect their nice wheels
5) Who the f*** wants to stand out in the cold and the rain chattin the same sh** we all chat in the summer.
6) more time away allows people to do more work to their cars and gives more of a suprise/more to talk about when the meets start again

6) more time away allows people to do more work to their cars and gives more of a suprise/more to talk about when the meets start again i see what you mean, but im not sure bout stopping them during the winter. if peeps want to stay in and work on projects etc they can. i dont see how the meets can spoil it if someone wants thier project to be a suprise. if anything i think it helps some of the less spanner proficient like me to do different things on our cars, as we can get advice from other members. some peeps only have the one car thats always on the road (ironic me saying that as mine spends most of its time sitting on my drive broken! lol). we all know the cars wont look the best because of the crap on the roads/weather/different wheels etc, but to me its just as much about meeting up with people and chatting rubish as it is about looking at cool cars. ive gone to meets in works escort/rust van before (i did park it a long way away! lol). one of the things i like about this club is the friendly atmosphere, and the fact that we do actually meet up so you get to know the people behind the cars. maybe we should move the meet to the services or somewhere during the winter, but move it back to the usual place when the weather gets a bit better, as i agree that cambridge is pretty central to most peeps.

| got to say i agree with tiz, even if i dod suggest swavesy earlier.
if we move it it may just fall. not all of the people that come use the forum so may not know about the change.
me and matty noticed that the carpark next to the one we use (on the other side of the road, behind starbucks or wotever) seems to be better lit so that might lift the atmosphere a bit.
if it gets too cold people will just leave earlier or head to a pub. so maybe have the meet there like normal, but have a scheduled leaving time to go somewhere warmer?

| Was just a suggeston to possibly move location peeps. Was based on peeps leaving early from the last meet due to the cold. Yes some peeps who regularly go who dont use the forum will wonder whats gone on but that would be up to me and you to let them know. Yes it did die last year after moving to a pub but then there was'nt a forum to keep peeps posted on whats going on. It was because of that, that i decided to set this up!. I did'nt realise there was a starbucks close to where we meet now so that gets my vote anyway | |
