As some of you may know or may have seen, I am now the very proud owner of this shiny little Mk1 Golf GX.

Plans atm are to keep it as VW intended for the time being and trying to source a couple small original parts its missing although im sure the modding bug will take over in the future.

Anyway here she is hope you all like it.

Good work, once you've had a MK1 it hurts to be without one for long...

I would love to do a conversion but if i do then the earliest it will be done is during next winter as im just wanting to tidy it up as much as possible during this winter and enjoy it for what it is during next years show season.

Fair enough dude, no hurry... Get some use and enjoyment out of her once/if the weather turns good next year. As Lee says, be good to have another in the convoy...

Are house sure it was GX dude because as far as I'm aware they only made them in '83 as a runout model to clear the last few parts.

If it had drum brakes all round then it sounds more like a Series 1 GL.

That's right. I had a silver gx back when I was 18

Discs and drums with 1.6 carb engine and chrome trim throughout

When I bought the car the wheel centres had a lot of surface rust showing on them but after half hour on each one with autosol and a toothbrush I got them looking like this
