Howdy from the US! Empty
PostSubject: Howdy from the US!   Howdy from the US! EmptyMon Jun 04 2012, 20:10

Ill be landing in the UK on 21st of June. I am in the US Air Force and will be living around the Alconbury area for the next three years or longer. Looking forward to it, Ben sent me over to fendubbers from the ED38 website. I was going to bring my MKV with me, but have decided to look for something over there instead. Also have a Caddy, but leaving my baby in Alabama with my family so I can enjoy it when I come back to the states for holidays.

Looking forward to meeting you all, I imagine with the time it will take to move into a house, get my license and find what car I want it will probably be August before I am at any meets or shows, but we will see! I'd like to make it to MIVW's in the Netherlands, but gotta have a car first.

by the way, my name is Dave.

No mate. I have a black mk1 on splits. I rarely drive past your base due to the speed bumps

Well bought a 1994 VR6 golf, and failed MOT today on the base. The emissions are too high, but just barely. It was fine then went to high, then back under... The guy tried to tell me my o2 was going bad, or the Cat was going bad, but it drives fine. What is the normal process of an MOT? The guy I bought it from told me they don't rev it up where he goes, and here on base they ran the engine to 2500 rpms? If it doesn't seem normal, Im going to go somewhere else... .otherwise I'm going to get a new o2 and cat welded in.

Thanks guys, and if you need anything small (up to about the size of a rim) from the states, let me know. I can buy it, you pay me and Ill get it shipped here to my post.

Got it to pass at a special station, pretty much had to plug up the exhaust so it'd get hot enough. I'm thinking about getting the techtonics downpipes and new cat
