finaly, the week end is here! well half gone now haha started to crack on with sanding the arches this morning and after getting everything out and set up, the sander decided it didnt want to work so i had to pack everything away again and go into town and buy a new one! waisted about 3 hours of my time! even though the new sander is much better than the old one lol

anyways time for progression piks, been mainly concentrating in the bed today, got the drivers side arch pretty much sorted now, very suprised how the turned out so far. also sanded down the first skim on the passenger side, then reskimmed ready to sand down tommorrow morning and then probaly skim again!

drivers side..second skim sanded down
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy134

etch primed and then primed....
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy136

then yet more filler to tidy the sides and some small holes up, this should hopefuly be the last big skim!
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy140
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy142

then the passenger side, after sanding, lots more high and low spots this side so its going to take a little longer than the other but will defo be worth it
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy135

then the second skim, thought it may be best to get a good coverage haha
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy141
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy143

during painting filling and sanding the arches i sorted out the b pillar, beentrying to put this off as i didnt no how to go about it as when i weled the seem up i was a bit heavey handed and the metal underneath warped a bit, so been building the layers of filler up over the last couple days. finaly sanded it down with the new super doooper sander from homebase Laughing came out better than i thought, managed to get the shape back. just need to get the lines back to tie back in around and up the pillar from where i ground the welds flush.

filler anyone?....
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy133

primer time...oh more filler?!
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy138
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy139

also got anoter coat of laqaur on my wheels will post some piks up tomorrow as they are now shiney! not bad for spray cans haha

all comments welcome as usual dudes and dudetts....

finaly finished my wheels today, added the pinstripe and detailed my g60 centre caps in dark blue. should go well against the satin blue the caddy is going to be. was my first time pinstriping a wheel, wasnt the easiest thing ive had to do but i think they came out alright for a first go. lots of little bits of dust on the wheels which i didnt reolise when i took the piks so my bad, dont worry its not small flys in the laquar Laughing
gave the centre caps a quick back to black but as see i missed a fair bit in the piks lol

heres a quick before shot of the wheels when i first got the last week, in all the refurb cost me just under 50 notes...
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy100-1

and how they are now after a fair few hours of work....
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy148
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy149
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy145
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy144

also sanded down both arches again, drivers side is all finished except for blending it in with the bottom of the bed.
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy146
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy150

passenger side, sanded then primed. needs maybe another 2 small skims to get rid of the pin holes then blend into the rest of the bed.
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 3 Thewhitecaddy147

not bad considering this is what the bed and arches looked like at the start of the project
