rear calipers Empty
PostSubject: rear calipers   rear calipers EmptyThu Aug 14 2008, 22:48

Hi all,

I decided recently to change brake discs and pads in my golf and that's more or less when the fun started Laughing
As I found that rear brakes were not really working since I bought my car, I decided to check calipers. Pistons were OK so I got new seals and just today I was trying to put everything together.
I got to the point where pistons are in housings but... I can't screw them in completely...
that's how they are at the moment

rear calipers Calipers

and from this point no matter how much time I spend screwing them, they just won't go in any more, they just turn round and round...
I suppose something has to be wrong, but what??? scratch

every piece of advice will be much appreciated Exclamation

cheers,
Luke

You need to put all your weight on them and then screw them in, just make the seal is seated right as they go in. Its a biatch of a job!

Good luck!

I think what you need is a piston wind back tool. Could probably find one for 50 quid in a motor factors type place. Basicly it comes with different 'sockets' with nubs that fit the holes on the edge of the piston and as you turn it pushes the piston in. makes it sooooo easy Very Happy
