PostSubject: bit of help please   bit of help please EmptyThu Mar 31 2011, 11:14

Right, I am putting my mk2 back on the road, and i have until the end of april to do so.
I have pre 90spec (hazard switch on the dashboard) 1989 mk2 that had 1.6 carb engine init but now all stripped out.
I always wanted to put 2L ABF on KR cams. I have a couple engines on my eye, but also...
I have a mk3 golf cabby 2L 8v (cant remember the engine code), could i use some parts from that to save money and time?
I cant use the gearbox as its fucked. But i have whole car to use ?

Please help,
Also... would I see A LOT of difference between ABF and KR engine? I just want a bit of power in my mk2 without spendig too much money.

ABF has more low down torque and is ultimately a more powerful and faster engine.

what management is the 2l 8v if its digifant, you could POSSIBLY use the wiring loom????

best bet is buy a cheap mk3 16v and rape it!

The cabby will have a 2e or agg depending on age and it will all plug and play.

The abf is pretty much the same as the kr but is 16mm taller hence known as the 'tall block'
