Depends how low you want to go, and aparently they fall apart anyway. Best thing to do is get a whiteline ARB and be done with it, you can do the cheaper things first if you want but id bet youll buy 1 in the end Razz

yeah it will be the arb rubbing. Either chop the arb off now and run without one, but the mot tester might have something to say. Or save some pennies for a whiteline arb that does under the driveshaft, arb droplinks work up to a certain point, with a whiteline you can go as low as you like. Next thing you will need is the chassis notched....

PostSubject: Re: Ruba Dub dub    Ruba Dub dub EmptyFri Feb 04 2011, 08:17

Was reading this about drop links etc.
This contact can be heard inside the vehicle (a loud tapping sound) when the car is driven over a bump. With the car being so low the drive shaft actually touches the factory roll bar. This only occurs on the driverís side as this side is fitted with a much larger diameter shaft than the passenger side

The noise I hear is from th passenger side not drivers and it's not tapping. It's rubbing, cant be tryes as ive got plenty of room. Also makes the noise just driving along in a straight line :/. I'll do a good check tomorrow Thumbs up

my mk4 rubbed all over the front, as the suspesnsion started to settle.

i cut the ARB off and have never regreted it. the car willnot be affected as the suspension has alredy stiffened the chassis up.

lol it aint a loud tapping noise its a loud grind! Razz

i would get under there asap then if its the passenger side to see whats causing it. Im pretty sure it will be the driveshaft on the arb on the passenger side. It will be obvious if it is.

Got the same trouble with mine lowered it 35mm, now got constant knocking noise whilst driving along, It sounds like it's coming from the top of the struts.

Stop dawdling you loon, either whip the arb off all together (free !!) or bite the bullet and dont tell the olds and get a white line one and fit it when they're out.

Lupton ran without one and has had no ill effects, I even notched his chassis too for extreme lows.
